Broadcom closes 56 software solutions after completing deal with VMware

29.04.2024

Recently, it was announced that Broadcom has completed its deal to acquire VMware, however, this significant move is accompanied by the closure of 56 software solutions. This move is part of the company's strategy to reorganize its product portfolio, and it has sparked great interest and discussions within the information technology industry.

Notification of the closure of these solutions was published in a release on the company's official website, although the release is currently unavailable. Fortunately, a cached version of the page on webcache allows us to see the list of solutions falling under the End Of Availability (EOA) status. This means that the company is discontinuing both the sale and support of these products.

As indicated in the material, paid solutions will cease support upon the expiration of the purchased license. Additionally, the company has announced that perpetual licenses are no longer available for purchase since December 2023. This also signifies the discontinuation of support and subscription (SnS) renewals for perpetual offerings. Instead, customers are offered a subscription model.

Additionally, earlier this year, Broadcom made changes to the process of servicing VMware customers, removing the ability to enter into service agreements directly through the VMware partner portal. Instead, these customers will now be serviced directly through Broadcom. This step has resulted in the rejection of subsequent attempts by partners to register deals on the VMware partner portal related to products whose support has now shifted to Broadcom.

It is important to note that there are over 2,000 accounts registered on the VMware partner portal, underscoring the significance of this change for many businesses and partners in the information technology sphere.
